Nia Carter

Special Events Co-op

Education
BA in Communication Studies and Music Industry, Northeastern University (Expected 2019)

Nia (she, her, hers) joined the Social Innovation Forum (SIF) team in July 2018 as the Special Events Co-Op through Northeastern University’s Cooperative Education program. In this role, she provides administrative and logistical support for a robust schedule of internal and external events, including learning sessions, convenings, panel discussions, and our signature “Winter Reception,” where the eight nonprofits of our 2019 Social Innovator cohort are announced and we celebrate the achievements of our portfolio organizations.

Nia is a fourth year student at Northeastern University, pursuing a combined degree in Communications Studies and Music Industry. At Northeastern, she is an Honors Program Assistant, where she develops programming for upperclass students related to community building, personal development, and advocacy. She often volunteers her time by mentoring at youth arts organizations, like Hyde Square Task Force and 826 Boston. She is very interested in social change and the nonprofit sector, and is excited to learn more about the related work occurring in Boston.
