Each week we will share events being hosted by our past Innovators and Entrepreneurs. Be sure to get out there and support our inspiring Boston non-profit community!

1. Get movin’ with InnerCity Weightlifting, a 2012 Innovator
Moves On The Roof

A picturesque rooftop view sounds like great motivation for a Tuesday evening workout! Work up a sweat with ICW from the rooftop garden of Kendall Square. The workout is sure to be fun and challenging for all ages and fitness levels. Moves on the Roof is the first of many free summer workouts organized by InnerCity Weightlifting. The organization seeks to reduce youth violence by providing networks, opportunities, and space for economic mobility and social inclusion.  

2. Support your local farmers with Groundwork Lawrence, a 2013 Innovator
Farmers Market

July 19, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm | Campagnone North Common, Lawrence MA 01841 (Haverhill St side across from the Senior Center at 155 Haverhill Street)

This week offers numerous opportunities to stock up on fresh fruits and vegetables grown by local farmers! Groundwork Lawrence invites you to enjoy the view, flavors, and the smells of summer, at their weekly farmers markets. In addition to improving the accessibility of healthy foods, Groundwork Lawrence revitalizes open outdoor spaces, provides youth education and initiates employment opportunities, in a full-fledged effort to build healthy communities.

3. Dive into the weekend with Hale, a 2016 Innovator
Swimathon

July 20, 5:30 pm | Membership Beach at Hale Reservation - 80 Carby Street, Westwood, MA 02090

Get your laps in at Hale Reservation’s Swim-a-Thon! It is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the beautiful weather while promoting community engagement with the natural environment. The first wave of swimmers will begin promptly at 5:30 pm, swimming as many laps as possible during a 30-minute period. Following the event, grab a spot on the beach and stay for a relaxing family movie night. Your participation will help fundraise money for Hale Reservation, an organization committed to providing educational and recreational outdoor opportunities.

4. Dance the night away at Haley House Café, a 2003 Innovator
Afrobeats Dance Boston

July 21, 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm | Haley House Café 12 Dade Street, Roxbury, MA 02119

If you missed the many previous events with Haley House, you are in luck! Haley House Café is hosting yet another community event, this time in partnership with Afrobeats Dance Boston. The Afrofusion dance workshop is free and open to the public. Come be a part of Haley House’s innovative approaches to empowering individuals and encouraging communities to challenge the systems and attitudes that foster inequality.
