United Interfaith Action (UIA), a faith-based community organization founded in 1996, promotes economic and racial justice and improves the quality of life for residents in Southeastern Massachusetts, in New Bedford and Fall River and beyond. UIA founds social action on the teachings of our diverse, faith traditions and trains clergy and lay leaders in the skills of community organizing for systemic change. UIA works in an “organizing cycle” to build relationships in the community and engage in deep community listening.

Grassroots leaders surface issues of greatest concern, research and develop proposals, meet with officials, and hold one another accountable to help to create change in our City and Commonwealth through public action. Our issue areas are Housing, Education, Immigrant Rights, Public Safety & Reform, and Voter Engagement.
