In 2013, the Social Innovation Forum (SIF) began working in the field of impact investing with a Social Business Accelerator that focuses on connecting social impact businesses with growth capital that generates both social and financial returns.
The support provided to entrepreneurs in this accelerator emphasizes mentoring from experienced business leaders and connections to prospective investors. Currently, this accelerator selects six to eight social impact businesses for a 12-week program that includes workshops, guest speakers, one-on-one advising, and a pitch event. This past April, SIF's six 2016 Impact Entrepreneurs had the chance to pitch to impact investors at our fourth annual Impact Investing Showcase event. Our work in this area continues to evolve as the impact investing field develops.
