Each week we will share events being hosted by our past Innovators and Entrepreneurs. Be sure to get out there and support our inspiring Boston nonprofit community! 

Social Innovation Forum Community Summer Series | August 19 - 25 

1. Support your local farmers with Groundwork Lawrence, a 2013 Innovator
Farmers Market

August 20, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm | Campagnone North Common, Lawrence MA 01841 (Haverhill St side across from the Senior Center at 155 Haverhill Street)

This week offers numerous opportunities to stock up on fresh fruits and vegetables grown by local farmers! Groundwork Lawrence invites you to enjoy the view, flavors, and the smells of summer, at their weekly farmers markets. In addition to improving the accessibility of healthy foods, Groundwork Lawrence revitalizes open outdoor spaces, provides youth education and initiates employment opportunities, in a full-fledged effort to build healthy communities.

2. Unlock your creativity with Artisan’s Asylum, 2014 Entrepreneur
Cosplay Workshop

August 24, 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm | Artisan's Asylum, Inc., 10 Tyler Street, Somerville, MA 02143

Get ready for the upcoming Anime Boston convention with Artisan’s Asylum! Come with questions about prop building to ask their professional costumers and prop-builders. With the goal to introduce you to foam-smithing, 3D printing, and sewing, this workshop will be a fun, collaborative, and productive space for you to work on your own costume project. Please bring your own materials and any personal tools you may need; some foam and thermoplastic will be available for cash purchase.

This event is free and open to people from 18 years old and up.

3. Explore the world of books with More Than Words, a 2009 innovator
Pop-up bookstore

August 23, 12:00 - 2:00 pm | Chelsea Lunch Marketplace, City Hall 500 Broadway, Chelsea
August 25, 11:00 am – 4:00 pm | Faneuil Hall Marketplace, 4 S Market St, Boston

Book lovers can now visit a mini version of More Than Words bookstore at many special events and farmers markets this summer! The gently used books they bring to these pop-up bookstores vary from children’s books to adult fiction and non-fiction to make sure all family members are able to find their own gems. 

Check their website regularly for the dates and locations of the next bookstore starting from now through September!
 

4. Check out the latest food, fashion, arts, and more from local Cambodian entrepreneurs, with Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association, a 2016 Innovator
Khmer Entrepreneur Market

August 25, 6:00 - 8:00 pm | CMAA, 465 School Street, Lowell

CMAA and EforAll have partnered to showcase local Cambodian entrepreneurs at this outside market. Admission is free andthe event is kid-friendly.
