Each week we will share events being hosted by our past Innovators and Entrepreneurs. Be sure to get out there and support our inspiring Boston nonprofit community!

1. Enjoy gardening with Mill City Grows, a 2014 innovator
Garden Fill Day at Dane Street Community Garden

Join Mill City Grows on this special occasion as they fill the garden beds of their sixth Community Garden! You will get to experience a garden build and socialize with other volunteers. There will be snacks and a lot of fun working together on this newest garden space, so save the date and bring your friends along!

2. Celebrate the community through food with Haley House Bakery Café, a 2003 Innovator
5th Annual Outdoor Community Tables Dinner

August 12, 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm | 12 Dade St, Roxbury, MA 02119

Join the whole neighborhood in feasting on a three-course dinner! Haley House’s chefs and volunteers will be preparing a delicious made-from-scratch buffet dinner with most ingredients donated by local farms, including Thornton Urban Farm in Highland Park. Vegetarian options are available. There will be live music, dance performances, and fun activities. The event is led by Fulani Haynes, with entertainment led by Afrobeats Dance Boston and DJ Sham. There will be entertainment for kids too including face-painting and a dunk tank so come on out for good food and fun with your neighbors.

This event is pay-what-you-can (suggested donation is $10) and open to the public.  

3.  Run with a view with Groundwork Lawrence, a 2013 Innovator
The Greenway 5k

August 13, 9:00 am - 10:30 am | Manchester Street Park, 75 Manchester Street, Lawrence

Calling all runners! Don’t miss this opportunity to run on the beautiful 3.5 mile Spicket River Greenway! The Greenway 5k is an annual event hosted by Groundwork Lawrence to promote health, fitness, and open spaces. You will get to take in some of the most breathtaking views the City of Lawrence has to offer.

The course begins at Manchester Street Park and ends at Ferrous Park. Free trolley rides are available from finish to start line after the 5K. Registration is from 7:30 am to 8:30 am and the Kids Fun Run is from 8:45 am to 9:00 am.

4. Enjoy a great night of live music with ZUMIX, a 2006 Innovator
Summer Concert Series

August 13, 6:00 pm | 260 Summer St, Boston, MA 02128

Unwind after a long day with fantastic music from Zumix! If you are a music lover, you will love this outdoor event featuring different musicians and singers from all over America. This Sunday’s concert highlights the Old Wave band. You can check out their music here. Bring a picnic, your family, and friends to enjoy this free entertainment to the fullest!
